It’s not about carrying around an extra little piece of plastic. It’s about the arrival of Big Brother. You would be on (an extremely expensive) state database, whether you like it or not, hoping against hope that the Government manage to run the IT efficiently while crime and terrorism will be entirely unaffected.  And until the Coalition makes good its promises, the pressure needs to be kept up!

The national ID card database is not the only one the Government wanted you on.  You might recently have received a letter from your local NHS Primary Care Trust telling you that a nationally-available NHS care record is about to be created for you.  The supposed benefits listed are pure propaganda.  You do not need to be on the database and you can opt out more easily than you might think.

A coalition was always the aim and the best possible result for the Liberal Democrats. Now it’s arrived, keep in touch and keep them honest...

My top ten of all time starts with:-

  1. Unforgiven
  2. Planet of the Apes
  3. Life of Brian
  4. Cyrano de Bergerac ...

The critics’ views can be seen at Rotten Tomatoes but beware the Tomatometer - 62% for Crank 2 (great lines – “Where’s my strawberry tart?” – but not a great film) but only 48% for the excellent  Green Zone!
